Gizmo(s)

Design

Gizmo(s) are a few of my playful little experiments in physical computing and interaction design.

The first gizmo is a little mirror that doesn't want to show you your own reflection. Depending on the setting, it either opens up or closes as you bring your face towards it. This was my first experiment in physical computing, and resulted in an amusing, playful interaction.

The second Gizmo, The Dali Fork, is a fork that collapses if you eat while using your smartphone. Responding to research that demonstrates how people exhibit unhealthier eating habits when using a phone, this fork provides a sardonic alternative. Using ML5.JS to recognize postures and a serial interface with an arduino, I used a machine learning model to trigger the interaction.
